Ages ago I wrote down all the classification in MGE and came to the conclusion that the whole system is… putting it lightly: shit. Back then I thought a little how to fix it but didn't came up with any decent system. Now I think I have a better shot. Since I'm kinda like the scientists before Darwin, I can only classify monsters based on gut feeling and physical similarities, because a detailed history of all monsters isn't described anywhere. Though KC probably thought about the "science" even less than I did. Regardless, here's what I came up with First category: Heavenly Earthly Within Heavenly there's: Holy (all the good angels and alike) and Fallen (all demon, imps, etc). I'm going with "all demons are just fallen angels" approach. Though you can also interpret it as demons being just creatures on the same level as angels. Within Earthly there's >Magical -Elemental (Gnome, Undine, etc) -Enchanted/cursed (Cursed Sword, Doll) –Undead

It would put Dwarves and Elves as Demihumans for example (the red icon), while classic demonic looking mamonos like succubi, imps, etc would fall under Demons (the purple icon). More human looking ones would fall under Majin (icon not in this image). This does mean arachnids are also placed in the same category as insects though, but I feel like this is where the subtypes come in handy. They should be used as descriptors rather than a category.

Given good layers, with Alraune and light separate from at least the rear wall, the simplest fix is to move the Alraune and light to the right maybe 15% of width, which pleasingly centers the Alraune's roots and gets the bottom quarter of the door out of the light beam so it'll just be gray and leave no doubt that it's a source. The only new work work is drawing a few more floor tiles, not to bad if you just do that and call it done. For practical effects there are usually ways around it. A mesh office chair gives a pretty good approximation of a flower petal for light filtering through (the little dots from the holes blur away unless the light is very close), but for the petal itself an umbrella or rain poncho gives a similar translucent effect. If this were a pro commission it also wouldn't be unreasonable to just buy a rose and have at it with the desk lamp, especially since that level of light simulation isn't available in most engines, where the advice seems to be "just use transparency". I wouldn't be surprised if there's an advanced technique that works since Ioannis Gkioulekas described the algorithm a decade or so ago, but I don't know it.

Did a thing. Went smoother than usual. Using a photograph for reference helps quite a bit, especially with the minor details. The one thing i struggled with is the clothing folds. It seemed impossible to make them look like folds, and not like random patches of color. Ironically, i had practiced that beforehand, and now i can't reproduce it.
did some sketches and turned smtn i got in a game into a monstergirl cuz i could game kept kicking my ass tho.

https://x.com/draw_the_dice/status/1869366488664264766 It doesn't look like anybody made a new /mggt/ and I don't want to risk messing something up so I'll just post about it here because the game is about ghosts anyway. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz1NpnYvpi0 I started Awaria a few days ago. As the trailer states: it is a game about playing as a (cute) maintenance girl working in haunted tunnels. Stations break down and need to be repaired with parts which can be collected throughout the level. All this must be done within a time limit for each broken station while dodging the attacks of the ghosts who haunt the tunnels. Mittsies' soundtrack pairs well with the frantic gameplay, keeping the pace up but still matching the vibe of cold and haunted tunnels littered with unreliable machinery. I don't claim to be good at games by any means but even on easy this game is really hard. It is engaging though and I appreciate that the difficulty setting applies to the individual chapters instead of the entire game. It means you can switch back and forth to your liking. I feel like the hitboxes are rather generous too. The wirecutters seem like they have properly slim hitboxes while the flames have larger ones. Nothing feels deceptive so the difficulty comes across as honest, which I greatly appreciate. The story seems pretty simple so far, I am on chapter 9 so far but I am almost done too so I doubt a whole lore bombshell will drop. So far the game just has you playing as a cute girl who wants to rizz ghosts. Speaking of cute: the ghosts are cute too. My favorite is Nikita because I like flamethrowers and I like older women and I like tall women and Nikita is all of those things. Unfortunately, she still gets a thrill out of trying to kill me, as do all of the ghosts. I suppose that is it for my review. If you play this game I would highly recommend relying on your joystick instead of the d-pad since diagonal movement will become imperative very quickly.
